On the morning of June 22, 2025, Hancock & Moore co-founder, Jimmy Moore passed away after a period of declining health. Over the course of the weekend, Hancock & Moore employees and friends have shared memories of the vibrant man that filled our hearts with love, laughter and a spirit of craftsmanship. We have both laughed and cried remembering the legacy that Jimmy created here.
Jimmy’s love for furniture grew right out of high school, where he poured time and energy into mastering the art of handcrafted upholstery. Within years, his experience and leadership teamed him up with Jack Glasheen, and in 1981, the two opened Hancock & Moore with the dream of making the finest leather upholstered furniture the industry had to offer. Shortly after, the duo added a third member, Tim Rogers, and for the next 35 years, the partners expanded the dream and their friendship. In 2015, as Jimmy approached retirement, he and his partners sold Hancock & Moore to family owned RHF, where they knew their employees and legacy would be in the best of hands.
Employees remember him as a man who never quit - here in the early hours of the morning to late evenings. He always challenged them to work hard, do better, and find a way to make it happen. He loved telling jokes and pulling pranks, but there was a soft and compassionate heart underneath the exterior. He was the kind of man you always wanted to please.
Customers remember him as a man who never said no. It was his motto. He believed we could do anything at Hancock & Moore, and for the life of me, I can’t remember a time we couldn’t. He loved the challenge of building a custom piece - whether it was make it longer or shorter, change the number of seat cushions or create a completely different style. He believed it could be done, and so it was.
Fans remember him as an extraordinary tour guide. One of his favorite things to do was give factory tours. He was so passionate about every single step of the craftsmanship process, that he glowed when teaching visitors about each pain-staking step. By the end of every tour, Hancock & Moore had a fan for life.
His family will remember him for many other reasons, as they should. He loved his wife of 68 years, his four children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. We, at Hancock & Moore, are so thankful for the many hours he sacrificed with them to be with us, his second family. Many of his own family worked right here to be part of the special heritage he was building.
Jimmy Moore, the one and only, we will miss you. Thank you for the incredible memories.
